I Had to Have it!

Over the last 2 years my nail polish collection has grown from around 10 bottles of half dried up polish to a little over 100 bottles of some of the best quality polishes I have found. I don't have many of the same color and have looked at it as a true collection. It makes me happy, what can I say. This new onset of collecting polish comes with me having grown my nails out. I have bite my nails my whole life and had never had anything to paint! Having my nails polished and collecting this polish has helped me to keep them grown out. So, long story short....I found a polish that I have nothing like and actually love so much, I'm going back to get another so that when they discontinue it, I have a back up. Here is is.

Product: O.P.I Nail Lacquer
Color: Push and Shove (chrome formula)
Collection: Gwen Stefani
Price:$9.00 at Ulta
Promises: Ultra chrome finish

The product packaging recommends using the accompanying (see pic below) "Lay Down that Base", base coat first. Use one coat of the base coat, let dry completely, then apply two thin layers of the polish. Do not use a top coat or quick dry top coat. I went by the directions and the polish dries very fast. I was skeptical if I would like it because I can't stand to paint my nails and not use some sort of quick dry such as "Out the Door" or a quick dry spray.

Packaging with sample size base coat and full size polish

The lighting makes it look gold in this pic, but wanted to give you a idea of the product sizes.

So now let's see this beauty on the nails!

I absolutely love it! Also I must warn that the packaging does warn that this polish is meant to be used for short term or "one night only" wear. I do see where it does wear quicker on the tips. It just gives a silver foil like look, is some places almost a mirror effect. It's just so different from your typical silver polish. I have found that a lot of silver polish has glitter to shimmer added, this has none. Overall I think it is a great addition to your collection and will be awesome all year round, but especially for summer on toes :)  Thanks for reading!

A Quick Hot or Not Review

From time to time I make purchases that I immediately know are poor decisions, I know, imagine that! But then again there are times and purchases that surprise you! This is one of those, so I thought it deserved a quick blog post. I was actually given this as a stocking stuffer from my sweet husband. I think he had seen me pick it up so many times, he decided to be the one to bite the bullet and get it. I can't help it! It seemed like a gimmick product and I thought it would be poor quality, boy was I wrong.

Product: Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy

Color: Galactic

Promises: This is a "two for one" nail polish that contains one solid color and one glitter polish in coordination or complementing colors in one package.

Ok, first, can we just talk about this color? OMG! I don't know what I love more, the beautiful deep dark solid blue or the ocean blue, beautiful "foil like" glitter. They are just beautiful, but does it actually work?

One coat of each people, one coat. No top coat people, no top coat!

I am a sucker for dark polish and new packaging, I should have purchased this months ago. I immediately wanted to run out and buy more, and I will. The only negative I would say is the amount of product in this type packaging, 0.26 fl oz compared to a standard OPI polish that contains 0.5 fl oz. the price is also comparable to OPI, depending on the store, I have seen these anywhere from $7.99 to $8.99. They do go on sale at Walgreens and CVS a lot so watch for that and GO GET YOU SOME!

Gray polish, nude polish, the search...

The search for the perfect nude and gray polish.....that is what I have been on. I have several that I have picked up over the last few months, here are 2 very inexpensive options that I have loved.

Product: Wet N Wild Mega Last Salon Nail Color

Promises: Sophisticated, classic colors beautifully accent any look. Long-lasting, opaque color provides 5 days of chip-resistant wear. A revolutionary resin polymer system creates exceptional color adhesion to nails. This resilient polish is calcium and mineral fortified to rebalance and prevent nail discoloration. Comes with a unique, full-coverage brush that glides on smooth for one-stroke application. Toluene, phthalate, and formaldehyde free.

The first one: Wet n Wild "Wet Cement"

I really love this gray. It has a hint of mauve, maybe a little brown, it does not come off as dull or dirty like some other grays I have found, and there is no green tint, another issue I have found when shopping for the perfect gray. The formula is that Wet N Wild Megalast formula that I am in love with! it really goes on with minimal streaking and wears really well. This product is easilly accessible at drug store, walmart, dollar general etc and the price tag is wonderful, at 1.99 each (most of the time you can find a deal at drugstores, BOGO or buy one get one 50% off). The pictures below are with 2 coats, I late went on and did another coat and was happy with those results as well. The only top coat I have on is my beloved "Out The Door".

Next up: Wet N Wild "Private Viewing"

This "peachy nude" is what I have been looking for! Due to the fact that I am extremely pale, I don't seem to do well with the usual nude colors, this one is different. It reminds me of the crayon color that you use for light skin. That's the only way I can describe it! Lol! It has minimal streaking and of course the Megalast formula that I love. Also another thing to mention is the awesome brush that this particular Wet N Wild polish hs, very wide brush, love it. I plan on doing a full review/collection blog on these soon.

A Little Cheap Makeup Never Hurt Nobody?????

Everyone was doing it.......I had to too. My Youtube obsession, I'm not sure when it began, but my most recent obsession is Youtube drug store makeup tutorials, hauls, etc. etc..... I was under the impression that if it doesn't cost a lot, at least in the makeup world, its not worth crap. You know, you get what you pay for type thing. Well let me just say, I was wrong. These past few months of Youtube obsession has converted me. I no longer reach for the higher priced product. Case in point. Jordana.  What? Jordana? Yes Jordana, kind of sounds like Jordache, don't get your hopes you, those jeans are not back in style (at least I hope not) :)

Jordana, if you are not familiar is a makeup brand found at Wal-Greens and K-Mart. It offers lower prices and most products are made here in the USA. So what got me to try it? The .99 eyeliner everyone was raving about. That's right people .99 for a eyeliner that they claimed would not make you go blind or wouldn't be completely gone after 2 minutes of wear (I have watery eyes). So I tried it, loved it, bought more and then more products. See the review and swatches below.
Jordana Easyliner in color: Black

Jordana Easyliner in color: Lavish Brown

Product: Jordan Easyliner

Promises: Silky, smooth, soft glide formula, doesn't tug delicate eye area. Excellent color coverage, all day wear, retractable-no sharpening required pencil. Available in 13 shades.

I really love this liner. I love retractable pencils with require no sharpener, the only issue is that the fine point eventually wears down and you have a more wider line. I switch and use a gel liner with liner brush if I need a finer line. These type do make it much easier for a smudgey line. The staying power is wonderful, even in the water line. The color payoff is very nice and I do not notice any pulling and tugging to get it on my eyelid. So, out goes my old liner and I have began to buy this liner only, it made a believer out of me.

Jordana Blush Powder in color: Touch of Pink

Product: Jordana Blush Powder

Promises: Color-true tints, face looks youthful and refreshed. Accentuates, sculpts and contours. Velvety smooth formula blends easily.

So after I tried the liner, I found other Jordana and decided to give them a whirl. First up, blush. I really like this too. It is a little powdery, but overall is very easy to blend, has great color payoff and doesn't have a strange scent (call me crazy, but that's what I find is some blushes). I will repurchase and try other colors, see below for a swatch.

Jordana Color Effects Eyeshadow in color: Rock Star

Jordan Color Effects Eye shadow in color: Bronzeville

Product: Jordan Color Effects Eye Shadow
Promises: Dazzling colors, high pigment finish, crease-proof, super soft, silk like application, available in 24 shades

I know, I know, a pink/red eye shadow..... I love them, I have several and I am on the hunt for the perfect one. This shade "Rock Star", I really like. It is powdery and I do not wear it without a primer, but the color payoff is great, very highly pigmented with not a whole lot of fall out. The color "Bronzeville" was purchased on a whim, because I purchased it in the middle of the summer and I don't wear a lot of brown, but I love this one. It goes on silkier than the pink/red color and also has great color payoff. As far as the claim of these being crease proof, no, used by themselves, you will have creasing, but using a good primer will take care of that.

These shadows and blushes are $1-$3 depending on if you find them on sale (yes they do have them on sale from time to time too!) I am very happy with this cosmetic line and will continue to purchase and try the other products they offer.
Top to bottom: Blush (Touch of Pink), Bronzeville Shadow, Rock Star Shadow, Lavish Brown liner, Black liner.

Smooth lips, just in time for Valentines Day!

Its the little things....... my new obsession, EOS lip balm. I have seen this product in the check out line at Walmart for several months, even back in the summer. I never tried it. Then, I saw a tutorial on YouTube and they were raving about it. So here is my review. Thanks for visiting and reading :)

Product: EOS Smooth Sphere

Promises: (from the website) "EOS lip balm is 95% organic. 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, EOS keeps your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth"
I tried, I loved it, I'm now constantly on the hunt for the other "favors". It seems like it goes on "thinner" than other lip balms, I do put in on before going to bed and I can tell that it has helped moisturize my lips but I don't fell it on when I wake up like some other products I have tried. I apply it on my lips at times before applying lipstick and it seems to help keep some color on my lips longer. It has a really great scent based on the "flavor" that you choose. My favorites at the moment are Summer Fruit (pictured above) and Sweet Mint. They do also offer 1 that is medicated. These lip balms can be found at CVS, Walgreens, Target, Walmart and Rite Aid. They range from around $3-$4.

Here is a list of the flavors:
Summer Fruit, Lemon Drop (SPF 15), Strawberry Sorbet, Honeysuckle Honeydew, Tangerine (Medicated), Sweet Mint, Pomegranate Raspberry.

Softer Lips?? + Toothpaste Promises

Hey Everyone!

Thanks for taking time out to read my new post, hope you enjoy. Don't forget to subscribe and please comment below if you have any questions!

Today's post started as a review of a new toothpaste but I decided to add another product that I have recently used a good bit. So here we go....

Product: Crest 3D White Luxe Toothpaste

Promises: "Removes Up to 90% of Surface Stains in 5 Days"

Well, I took the 5 day challenge. My husband got this sample tube with a tooth brush during a recent trip to the dentist for a cleaning. The sample was just large enough for me to use 2 times per day for 5 days. The toothpaste has a very minty taste and leaves a fresh feeling for what seems to be longer than our regular toothpaste does (Crest Complete Whitening) As for the removal of surface stains, I could see a difference, but to say that 90% of stains were removed, no. I would however repurchase this product due to the fresh clean feeling and staying power.

Tip: Look for sample size products in the travel section and corner hangers in stores so that you can try the product before committing to a full size.

OK, now on to the other product.

Product: Skinny Girl Lip Scrub

Promises: "Keep your pout smooth and kissable with this luxuriously gentle sugar scrub"

I saw this product at Walmart and wanted to try it. Shortly later it was given to me as a little gift (I might have gave a few hints). I have used it off and on over the past 6 months. It does remove some dry skin from lips but I feel that the "scrub" contents are too large for the lips. I have used the Mary Kay Satin Lips Lip Mask before and this product is not similar in ingredients, only the concept. The Skinny Girl product does have a great minty scent, is easy to use, not too oily and leaves your lips moisturized for a short period of time, but I feel like the price difference between this ($7.00 @ Walmart) and the Mary Kay product ($9.50) is not so significant that I would purchase this again.

***I do recommend if you decide on the Mary Kay Satin Lip product, go ahead and purchase the lip mask and lip balm combo because that lip balm used after the mask is heavenly!****

Lets Get Started With a Bang....Horrible Hairspray

Ok, lets get this party started. This is probably one of the worst products I have tried recently in preparation of this blog (or at least we will keep telling my husband that).

Product: Fruitopia Ultra Firm Hold Freezing Hairspray

Promises: Firm Hold with no stickiness or flaking

The really bad thing about this product is that it does the EXACT OPPOSITE of what it advertises. LOL! This stuff is SOOO sticky! The hold is far from "Firm". I can not use hot rollers with this product because I usually spray my hair before putting the roller in and this stuff is so sticky that I can not do this. The flaky promise I guess is OK, I really didn't notice "flaking" but I did notice ALOT of build up when I washed my hair.

The best thing about this product is the smell. It is really fresh and fruity. I actually bought the stuff because it smells like peach Nehi :) It really holds up to the Fruitopia brand as far as the reputation for great scents.
